Designed & Built props for Jeffrey Hatcher's adaptation of Jekyll & Hyde. Outstanding work included replica pig's head & practical on-stage chemical reactions (Dr. Jekyll's potions.)
April 2011 — June 2011 (3 months)
Curated & controlled the sound mix for a 5-week run of the musical "Always, Patsy Cline".
During the run a guest reached his hand through the control room window and said "Did you do the sound? I heard EVERY WORD." Great, unsolicited guest feedback.

Show: Enchanted April. I'm applying a number of cutting-edge scenic techniques to this rather understated play including: videographic scenery, generative sound design, and location-aware scenic pieces.

Worked to bring the vision of both the scenic designer & the director to life in vibrant color for the turn-of-the-century bedroom farce A Flea In Her Ear.

Show: Frost/Nixon. I created a number of practical prop video cameras resembling late-70's field television cameras. This allowed the director to have the actors contribute live video feed of the performance into the performance itself via on-stage projection screens & a multitude of period television screens in the audience space.
August 2010 — Present
I've moved my family to Washington State and I'm striking out on my own to produce a variety of entertainments.

Show: Damn Yankees (Musical)

Carpenter, followspot & stagehand.
The Las Vegas Shakespeare Company is a troupe of true actors who refuse to dilute the real spirit of the Bard's works.
I was happily on-call as their only technician during a period of amazing growth; I can't wait to see them from the audience's perspective!
I had the opportunity to work on a number of minimalist builds such as stage boxes, venue improvements, & props. I had a great time delivering a Romeo & Juliet balcony with fancy balustrade.
May 2010 — June 2010 (2 months)
What a great time working on this show. Piles of props had to be made and each had the prefix "giant", or was a food product, or both (Giant thermometer, Hot Dogs, Giant Chocolate Bar.)
Musical theater production in an outdoor theater setting. Triage-style damage repair in a remote outdoor location: very challenging, very rewarding.

Was one of a small set-build crew for the show All Shook Up (musical theater). Bringing the director's vision of a complex and expressive theatrical set to life took about three months. I was a followspot operator during the show run.

I maintained, improved rented stage props & costume props inventory; designed & built additional pieces.
I was responsible for the performance & training of a paid intern during the run of the show, which lasted over one month.

Show: "Once on this Island" (Musical Theater).
Pre-production: props build.
Show run: Daily props maintenance including extreme damage repair. Also stage hand: stage pre-set, wardrobe quick-change.
This paid gig gave me the chance to use my leadership to get professional results from unpaid student, amateur & laymen stage hands.
